Janine van Throo is a proud maroon woman born in Suriname. She is a woman that wears many hats, and she enjoys each and every one of them. Janine holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Informatics from the University of Amsterdam and has over 20 years’ experience in ICT.  She eventually started her own consulting firm offering consultancy services as Business Process Analyst and Blockchain consultant to several clients. As a certified blockchain consultant, she currently offers her services on a programmable money project, among other things. She is the co-founder of the Black Women in Technology Suriname, an organisation offering and promoting tech education to black women in her home country Suriname. She is the Regional Managing Director for South America for the “Africa Chamber of Digital Commerce”, A USA based organisation, introducing and encouraging emerging technology to African and Caribbean countries. She is a board member of a Ghanian based organisation named “Techfarm hub”, their mission is to connect young entrepreneurs, agripreneurs, start-ups and change makers to seed funding and investment matchmaking resources and partner with key ecosystem stakeholders. Janine is a business developer for Social Africa, a USA social platform start-up for Africans by Africans.

Janine is also a Natural Hair Therapist, product formulator, author, international speaker and coach.  She is the founder of Sisay Cosmetics where she also acts as the head formulator and head educator. As a researcher and product inventor, Janine formulates natural hair and skin care products for afro, curly hair and scalp as well as nutritional products.  Using her years long experience, Janine created NISH®, a holistic hair care approach, where the 4 pillars combined – Nutrition, Ingredients, Scalp care, Hair maintenance, all play a crucial part in hair care.
